With Joan’s due date of Mar. 30 rapidly approaching, we considered the possibility of going on a trip known as a “babymoon” — a getaway vacation for just the two of us before the little one arrives. But given that we were also scheduled to undergo an expensive kitchen renovation starting in January, we opted for a simpler overnight stay in Philly instead.
After I wrapped up work in Center City on Friday afternoon, I walked to the Rittenhouse Hotel to check into our suite. Joan made her way into the city and met me at the room, where we got dressed before heading out to Distrito, a wonderful Jose Garces restaurant near Penn’s campus. The following day, we ordered room service for breakfast, then both received relaxing massages at the Adolf Biecker Spa & Salon within the hotel before returning home later in the afternoon.
Our brief city outing was a well-earned treat after the hectic holidays and the disruption caused by the kitchen project, which had started just a few days earlier. More on that soon!
